#24: Onion Rings

Is it self-preservation that leads us all to believe that onion rings are difficult to make in our own homes despite the overwhelming evidence against such a misguided belief? I mean, think about it, onion rings are just batter (easy) and…well, onions (easy AND cheap). That’s it. And buckets of oil, yes, but so far I’m not seeing where the difficult part comes in. Don't tell me it's about the the deep-frying (because if it is, we DID tackle this particular concern during fried chicken week). Frying is super simple to do in your home, and all of the crunchy treats that suddenly start emerging from your kitchen are well worth the minor hassle of oil disposal. Even if that very sound argument doesn’t convince you to deep-fry, I’ve got you covered with a DOPE brown-butter onion rings recipe that only involves pan-frying. So there you have it, no more excuses. Now call me up and invite me over for some of those homemade onion rings we keep talking about why don’t you?
